MIA

How do you find time to blog?  Well, just like everything else you have to schedule time.  I'm going to pencil in time at least once a month to do so, and make it worth your time to read.  So I'll share in my next post "The quest for 7/8".

It's April

So it takes time to get things done.  I like a good schedule to make sure all that is important gets done.  If there is not enough hours in the day the something has to get bumped.  I have done some sewing as I have a class scheduled at my favorite shop Prairie Quilts.  Everything else sewing has been on hold while I wrap up school for the spring.  Then lookout the threads will be flying.

I did want to say that I have kept those in Boston in my thoughts and prayers.  There were lots of people from near and far impacted by those tragic events at the marathon.  If you are a quilter the Boston Modern Quilt Guild is accepting fabric and block donation to create quilts for comfort.  If you are interested in contributing please see the button on this page.

1 of 3 for Spring Break

I have one of three things done on my Spring Break sew list.  I got a little "Wonky".  This is my first time making a Wonky Log Cabin block.  What to you think.?  Which one did I make first?  These are for a quilt to benefit a good cause check out my Philanthropy page.

Spring Fever!
So.....working full time and taking 2 classes for my Masters degree program and all that others stuff you have to do in a week has left me no time to sew.  Thank goodness for Spring Break.  I have a sewing weekend coming up with a break in my classwork schedule and work as well with Good Friday off from work.  Hope to get lot's ready for my next OKCMQG meeting.  On the to do list is
Since I am in what I would call my Sophomore year of quilting, I have been reading a lot of blogs.  That seems to be thing to do if you are a quilter is create a blog.  Blogs for quilters are my things,  diary or work, marketing tool, avenue for networking, and best of all, a teaching tool.  I have learned quite a few things from my guild members blogs like getting familiar with the leaders in this craft.  The network of quilters is amazing.  I followed links to blogs that took me around the world.  It is almost like reading a choose your own adventure book for quilters.   One evening visited a blog mentioned in a quilting magazine featured on Craftsy that lead to http://mypatchwork.wordpress.com/ BOM that had textured blocks.  These are so cool.  This will for sure go in my project planning journal for a quilt and or pillow project ideas.

Hi.

This is my blog about quilting and other related stuff.  I joined the Oklahoma City chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild in February this year.  The members have very cool blogs.  So I started this one.  I think the name is pretty cool - Solid Notions.  Solids because I love solid fabrics.  Lucky me my guild was having a solid swap the first meeting I attended.  I like them because you can match them up with a print or mix an match among solid colors.

Notions for the other half of my blog name in part because I like gadgets and do-dads.  I have more that one can opener (sharp or smooth edge), mixer (hand and stand), more that one sewing machine (bought a Pfaff for my birthday last summer).  You catch my drift.  I am the same way with my quilt and cloth projects.  You'll see me talk lots about rulers, books, patterns, and other fun stuff.  My first quilt notion purchase - Creative Color Wheel.  Notions also cover essentially what the blog is about an- individuals (me) conception or impression of something known, experienced, or imagined
